  A Professor of Political Science, Sylvester Akhaine, on Tuesday said that liberation of Africa from overwhelming influence of the West would  require radical perspectives which should interrogate causality.   Akhaine made the assertion while delivering  the 103 Inaugural Lecture Series of Lagos State University.  NIHOTOUR clarifies new regulatory role in tourism industry Lagos, Feb.21, 2025 The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) has clarified its mandate as a regulatory body for personnel, practitioners, and operators within Nigeria’s tourism, hospitality, and travel industry value chain. Its Director-General, Abisoye Fagade, made this announcement during a stakeholders’ meeting with the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) in Abuja on Thursday.  Copyright commission seeks NANTAP’s partnership to strengthen performers’ rights Lagos, Feb.20, 2025 The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) says it is ready to work with the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP) to strengthen performers’ rights protection under the Copyright Laws.   Dr John Asein, Director-General of NCC, said this on Wednesday in Lagos during the ongoing NANTAP National Delegates Convention.   The theme for the five-day convention, which will end on Feb. 22, is “Theatre, Politics and National Development”.   Asein said strengthening the performers’ rights protection was needed to address the challenges confronting different categories of performers in the digital age.   He said that some categories of performers were not included in the most recent copyright protection law designed in 2022.   According to him, the commission was not aware of some exceptions and infringements then.   He said this is the...
