The Lagos State Commandant of Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN), Pat. Kuforiji Olanrewaju Williams, has called for the suppoort of the Lagos State Government in carrying out its responsibilities, one of which is positively engaging youths. The Commandant made the appeal when he and his entire team made an official visit to the ministry of Youth and Social Development to formally introduce himself.  The Lagos State Commandant Peace Corps of Nigeria Sincerely appreciated the leadership of the ministry especially the Directors for the support and assistance over the years.   Some suspects arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of the Olu of Agodo, Oba Ayinde Odetola, have told the police why they engaged in the act. Daily Post reports that Oba Odetola was burnt to ashes in Agodo, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State on January 24. The monarch, alongside three others, were attacked by some assailants who fled immediately after setting the Oba ablaze in his car. But, the efforts of police officers from Zone 2 comprising Lagos and Ogun paid off as they apprehended 11 of the suspected murderers. While telling the police why they decided to send the Oba to the great beyond, they said he was a land grabber, otherwise known among the Yorubas as ‘Ajagungbale’.     The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State, Engr. Segun Osinowo on March 16, 2022 paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc, mnim, psc.   According to a statement signed by CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, the Lagos State Police Command’s Spokesperson, Engr. Osinowo who visited the CP alongside senior executives of the Commission lauded CP Alabi for his strides and initiatives that have ensured relative peace and safety across the state.   “He equally solicited the support of the Commissioner of Police and the entire Command towards effective election security and a general mutually beneficial professional relationship.   “CP Alabi on his part assured the REC of the readiness of the Command to at all times provide adequate security for the conduct of successful elections in the state.” Ajisebutu said.

Two suspects in a N1.7b fraud case involving Wema Bank were on Monday discharged for want of evidence by an Ikeja Magistrates' Court, Ogba. The suspects, a businessman, Isaac Adewole and a banker Kingsley Ananwede,  were initially arraigned at the same court on Feb. 9, 2022 for alleged N1.7 billion fraud and money laundering. The suspects had allegedly moved the said amount of money while impersonating multinationals like Dana, Caverton and two other companies which had immediately denied any involvement in the activity.  Magistrate A.O Olayinka adjourned the matter to March 15 for mention after the suspects pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum N10m each.
