1,490 Illegal Routes Impedes Effective Border Security Says Comptroller General

The Acting Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Mr Idris Jere has said that 1,490 illegal routes into the country was a major challenge at effectively policing the Nigerian borders. Jere said this during a zoom conference meeting with journalist in Lagos State. He, however, said that the NIS had stepped up it's game to improve mobile security around the borders and increase the number of personnel's for effective security. "As elections approach, the security of this counuos for all and security effort shave been intensified to ensure safety of our borders," he said. NAF Conducts Medical Outreach To Shogunle To Improve Relationship

  The Logistics Command, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Ikeja on Thursday conducted a free medical outreach to their host community, Shogunle to commemorate the 58th anniversary of the NAF. The Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of the command, AVM Hassan Abubakar said that the medical outreach was part of the NAF's effort to enhance civil military relations with their host communities. Abubakar said this at the flag-off of the NAF 58th anniversary and medical outreach for Shogunle and it's environs which held at Shogunle, Ikeja, Lagos State. "The outreach is expected to provide health education, councelling, laboratory screening, visual acuity checks, free prescription glasses, dental health services, minor surgeries and lots of free medications to community members. GIZ-SEDIN, FUT-Minna Launches SMEsabi To Boost Entrepreneurs Income Earning Potentials

SEDIN, a programme by the German Development Cooperation, GIZ has collaborated the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna) to launched SMEsabi to equip entrepreneurs to boost income earning potentials. NGO Strengthens Capacity Of Organisations As Change Of Development

The Agents for Citizens-driven Transformation (ACT) a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) aims at strengthening capacity of selected civil organisations to enable them become credible drivers of change and sustainable development in the country. The Component Manager, ACT programme, Hafsat Mustapha said they had 200 Civil Society Organisations (CSO) receiving thematic support although they do not provide training to all the 200 at any one time. Mustapha said this at the European Union funded "Cross-State Regional Reflection for ACT" programme, at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island which started on May 16 and ended on May 17. How College Of Education Student Was Burnt To Death For Alleged Blasphemy In Sokoto

  The Sokoto police command has confirmed the killing of Deborah Samuel, a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education.  Sokoto police spokesman Sanusi Abubakar, in a statement on Thursday evening May 12, said the killers of the student who was accused of making a social media post that blasphemed prophet Muhammad, removed her from the security room where she was hidden by the school authorities, kiIled her and burnt the building.  Abubakar further stated that the students banded together with miscreants and barricaded the Sokoto/Jega road.  He said two students were arrested in connection with the crime committed. Navy Synergises With NDLEA To Combat Drug Cartels

  To strenghtening the efforts of the Nigerian government to combat drug trafficking on Nigeria waters, the Nigerian Navy yesterday handed over two epenal boats, operational and training equipment to the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA). The event which took place at the Western Naval Command, Apapa, Lagos was aimed at improving positively the operational efficiency and the capacity development of the agency's Maritime unit. Police Intercepts N3m Worth Of Drugs In Lagos

  Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have intercepted ten bags of illicit drugs suspected to be Indian Hemp. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the State Command's Spokesperson revealed in a statement that the drugs, packed in ten sacks, were being conveyed in a Lagos colour commercial bus with registration number LND 995 XT from Iddo to a destination in Mushin.  "Luck, however, ran out on the suspects when vigilant Rapid Response Squad (RRS) operatives on routine patrol stopped the bus at about 0400hrs on April 29, 2022 at Stadium Bus Stop, Surulere. "While two occupants of the vehicle escaped, the driver, Amodu Agbaje, was apprehended.   The Railway Police Command of the Nigerian Police Force have arrested 14 suspects in connection to rail tracks vandalization, concealing stolen properties of Nigerian Railway corporation (NRC), armed robbery and criminal conspiracy across the nation in the month of April, 2022. On 1st of April, 2022 the Kafanchan Railway Police Division of the command, upon a tip-off by a concerned citizen, intercepted a BUA Cement truck fully loaded with railway slippers along Bankin-Kaninkon-Kogi.
