NAF Conducts Medical Outreach To Shogunle To Improve Relationship

 

The Logistics Command, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Ikeja on Thursday conducted a free medical outreach to their host community, Shogunle to commemorate the 58th anniversary of the NAF.

The Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of the command, AVM Hassan Abubakar said that the medical outreach was part of the NAF's effort to enhance civil military relations with their host communities.

Abubakar said this at the flag-off of the NAF 58th anniversary and medical outreach for Shogunle and it's environs which held at Shogunle, Ikeja, Lagos State.

"The outreach is expected to provide health education, councelling, laboratory screening, visual acuity checks, free prescription glasses, dental health services, minor surgeries and lots of free medications to community members.

"This is part of NAF's humanitarian intervention to ensure that Nigerians can stay healthy and go about their legitimate businesses unhindered," he said.

According to Abubakar, the NAF under the leadership of Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Oladayo Amao continues to prioritise the provision of access to healthcare delivery and humanitarian services.


"It is inline with this vision that the NAF is giving back to the good people of Shogunle community.

"It is expected that members of the community will benefit from this free medical outreach which is designed primarily to assist people in the community," the AVM said.

In the same vein, the Commander, 661 NAF Hospital, Ikeja, Air Commodore Azubike Chukwuka said that they had enough medical resources to cater for 1,000 people.


"We went through the whole presentation of medical practices from preventive to records, nursing care, medical consultation, dental and eye care as well as HIV drugs to the community members.

"I urge the general public to be conscious of their health at all times, and adhere to healthy lifestyle modifications such as diet, exercise and rest, needed to be healthy.

"They should also desist from self medication and ensure to see a medical personnel when sick for a better insight and solution to their health," Chukwuka said.

Also, The Community Development Area (CDA) Chairman, Subaru, Shogunle,  Mr Isiaka Yusuf commended the NAF for their effort at ensuring that the health status of community members remained a priority.


Elated Mrs Hassanatu Taiwo said that she was particularly grateful for the glasses she got which would enable her to read well and see objects further away.

Also, Mr Banjoko Olalekan, an accountant said that he was impressed with NAF's effort at ensuring that community members stayed healthy noting that "health is wealth".
