NGO donates books, pays tuition fees for students in Lagos
The First British Charity Home Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), on Monday donated books and paid tuition fees for 10 students in a school in Lagos.
The founder of the NGO, Mr Evans Uchendu, said the aim of the donation and payment of school fees was to ensure the less privileged secure a future in education.
The school that was visited was Faith Reward International School, Ijesha, Lagos.
Uchendu while speaking with journalists said there was hardship in the country, hence the visit to the school.
“We decided to visit this school considering the hardship and economic crisis going on in the country where people are struggling to feed and some children are being sent out from schools due to lack of payment of school fees.
“We decided to pay their school fees with other levies with some writing materials.
“For now, we are paying school fees for 10 students.
“As I always say, I believe so much in securing the future of the kids educationally and paying the school fees of these children is a way of giving the students the opportunity to become something in life,” he said.
He said that people that had access to education cannot be involved in crime.
Uchendu added that the initiative was a way of creating a secured environment for the community.
He urged the students to continue to read and work hard to ensure they come out successful in life.
A popular actor, Mr Segun Arinze, who also came to support the NGO, advised the kids to always pray and work hard.
“It is not very common to see someone at this present time to say I want to pick up your bills, pay your school fees or empower you to climb the ladder to the next level.
“When you hear Nigeria is cursed, you let them know Nigeria is blessed because Nigeria is your Goshen.
“I came to identify with the NGO because what they are doing is good and to the students, don’t allow negative influence,” he said.
One of the parents of the beneficiaries, Mrs Olowoyo Fadekemi, said she was happy the NGO paid her daughter’s school fees.
Fadekemi prayed for them that the Lord would always shine upon them.
