TotalEnergies donates bins, engages Lagos schools in cleanup

    As part of its corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability efforts, TotalEnergies distributed waste bins to four Lagos schools and engaged students in a clean-up exercise.   The General Manager of Country Services at TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc, Mrs Adesuwa Adewole, disclosed this while speaking to journalists after the donation.   The beneficiary schools were Kuramo Junior and Senior Secondary School, as well as Victoria Island Junior and Secondary School.   The initiative, with the theme ‘Green Initiative on Climate and Environmental Preservation’, was carried out in partnership with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation.   “TotalEnergies strongly supports the Sustainable Development Goals.  IKEDC, NAF set for showdown over power cut to logistics base Lagos, March 5, 2025 The growing tension between the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) and the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja, over the duration of the power supply disconnection may escalate if not promptly addressed. Investigations by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reveal that the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja, has been without power for two weeks following its disconnection by the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) over an unpaid debt running into millions of naira. NAN learnt that an agreement was reached for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to pay IKEDC a monthly sum of ₦60 million to ensure a daily electricity supply of 10 to 12 hours to the base. PIAFO Champions Collaborative Approach to Telecom Infrastructure Safety

In a bid to safeguard the $75.6 billion telecom industry, Omobayo Azeez, Lead Executive of PIAFo, has underscored the imperative of protecting the sector's critical infrastructure. Azeez said this in a statement on Saturday Lagos. According to him, the recent nationwide telecom service disruption in March 2024, caused by undersea cable cuts, resulted in economic losses estimated at $593.6 million. Azeez also highlighted the alarming frequency of fibre cuts, with over 50,000 incidents recorded in 2024 alone, resulting in service blackouts and significant repair costs. He said that in 2023, operators reported spending over N35 billion to repair and replace installed fibre cables that were destroyed. Azeez emphasised that this is a fortune that could have been otherwise committed to infrastructure expansion to improve quality of service.
