REAN partners Netherlands for improved solar market in Nigeria  Lagos, Nov.6, 2024 The Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (REAN) has partnered with the Consulate of the Netherlands in Lagos with the aim of improving the energy market space in the country. Ayo Ademilua, the president of REAN said that the partnership would create access to different funders and investors for their members and improve the quality of solar energy services in the country. Ademilua said this during the 2024 REAN Conference with the theme: Unlocking Affordable Energy for All which held on Tuesday at Four Points by Sheraton, Victoria Island, Lagos. "This partnership with the Dutch Embassy will open up opportunity channel for our members to be able to do a lot of stuffs in the solar energy space with the organisation.  FTAN seeks more input to national tourism policy Nov. 3, 2024 The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) has called for further contributions to the review of the National Policy on Tourism and Hospitality. Mr Nkereuwem Onung, National President, FTAN, made the call on Saturday in Lagos at the Tourism and Hospitality Stakeholders’ validation of the 2024 Draft of the National Tourism Policy. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the policy is being reviewed by the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG). Onung said there was a need for absolute inclusiveness in the review process before delving into the legislation process, as some associations within FTAN were not carried along.  2024 MIPCOM opened up opportunities for Nigerian creatives- Onah Nov. 3, 2024 Ijeoma Onah, founder, Nigerian International Films and TV Summit (NIFS) says the 2024 edition of MIPCOM opened up valuable and new opportunities for Nigerian creatives. MIPCOM means Marché International des Programmes de Communication. The 2024 edition was held from Oct. 21 to 24 ,at the Palace of Festivals and Congresses in Cannes, France. National Tourism Policy review upholds promotion of domestic tourism- NESG Nov. 2, 2024 The Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), said that the current review of the National Tourism Policy was focused on promoting domestic tourism. Ms Ngozi Ngoka, Thematic Lead, Tourism and Hospitality Industries, Thematic Group, said the review was a deliberate move to ensure that tourism contributed to the Gross Domestic Product(GPD) of the nation’s economy as obtained in other countries. Ngoka said this on Saturday in Lagos, during the tourism and hospitality stakeholders validation of the 2024 Draft of the tourism policy.  IHRO-Africa urges policy makers to create business-friendly reforms Nov. 1, 2024 The International Human Rights Observatory Africa (IHRO-Africa), a civil society organisation, has called on policy makers to implement business-friendly reforms to mitigate human capital flight in Nigeria. Daniel Koussou, the Chairman of the committee on Economic Diplomacy, Trade and Investment, IHRO-AFRICA, made the call during the inauguration of the committee members in Lagos on Thursday. He expressed concerns over the increasing cases of human capital flight due to the harsh business environment. According to Koussou, over 100 companies have exited Nigeria since 2020, resulting in estimated losses of 56 billion dollars. He attributed this to economic instability, volatile currency fluctuations, and high operational costs. Lagos, NATOP set for World Travel Market Oct.29, 2024 The Lagos State Government and the Nigeria Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) have expressed readiness to showcase and market the state’s tourism sites to the global audience at the World Travel Market (WTM). The national president of NATOP, Mrs Bolaji Mustapha, during a meeting with the commissioner on Monday in Lagos, said no fewer than 50 tour operators will be attending the global event. Mustapha noted that each of the members would explore exposing Lagos tourism offerings, including its rich cultural heritage sites, stunning natural landscapes, vibrant entertainment and nightlife as well as historic landmarks and monuments.
