PCN Lagos Command Sought Partnership With LIC On Community Development

The Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) Lagos Command has resolved to partner Lagos Island Connect (LIC) for the growth and progress of Lagos residents. 

This was agreed during a visit by the PCN Lagos Commandant, Pat. Kuforiji Williams and his entourage to Ms Yemisi Ransome Kuti, a Co-founder of LIC.

ReelzzNewzz24 reports that LIC was set up by a group of friends to put up write ups and presentation of papers to the government for the purpose of bringing opportunities to the people. 

During the visit, Pat. Kuforiji Williams appreciated Mama's  effort and strength in standing by the Youth despite several challenges. 

The commandant while speaking with Ms Ransome-Kuti about the core mandates of PCN said its strength of over 12,000 officers and over 8,000 volunteers of youths is filled with high level of intellects. 

"Our officers go as far as help in intelligence gathering, for security purposes, they do voluntary tasks to assist Lagos residents and also visit schools to create awareness on the dangers of joining bad gangs.

"We are majorly made of youths and we always preach peace in all the community we find ourselves. We always try to set good examples so as to encourage more youths to join us. 

"We are driven by passion and love for out county Nigeria and we will do everything possible and positive to ensure peace for our communities to progress. 

"PCN Lagos Command is also dedicated to engaging the youths to channel their vibrancy into something positive and beneficial to the society as a whole. 

"We have met with other necessary institutions for partnership on community development and security just like we have come today and we hope and pray this gesture will be a fruitful one." he said.

The Commandant humbly seek to meet the LIC Executives and also telling Mama about the registration and partnership of Peace Corps with Lagos State Government. 

Ms Yemisi Ransome Kuti ( Co-founder) Lagos Island Connect (LIC) appreciated PCN Lagos Command's visit saying PCN is not new in the Country and it is very critical in the development of the country. 

"I am delighted to meet youths like you who have voluntarily taken leadership roles. It gives us hope. Today, i approve the partnership of LIC and PCN, Lagos State Command, signed,, sealed and delivered.  

"The reason LIC focused on youth is because of the numbers, restlessness, joblessness and their fear of not achieving the expected goals. 

"The sectors that will create the needed opportunities must not be ignored (private and public sectors). The LIC is bringing all channels together in getting the right results.

"Lagos Island was chosen as the survey to start and map the role of LIC such as Youth enhancement (infrastructure, working strategy and training). Also to form a committee with the local government on security and economic matters.

Ms Yemisi Ransome-Kuti asked that PCN Lagos State Commandant be added to the LIC platforms and called for ideas that can move the society forward, rehabilitate the community and develop the youths. 

She said she would be looking forward to many more exciting things with PCN Lagos State Command. Ms Yemisi Ransome-Kuti also gave approval of Youth Center to Peace Corps of Nigeria Lagos State Command at anytime. 

The LIC Co-founder said PCN needs to bring something new to the table such as; community ownership where people feel safe and Comfortable, protecting witnesses, protecting evidences, getting and providing evidences without compromise.

Others are Legal System, giving evidences in closed door and rehabilitation centers outside the state as locking up patients often turn people to addicts.

ReelzzNewzz24 gatheted that LIC has a Board of Trustee, Youth Managers and has a partnership with the Lagos State Government. 

LIC was reportedly formed and has been doing Youth assessment Survey and results sent to the government. The Economic Summit was drawn to the Governors attention likewise had sustainable development goals. 

LIC has the Youth hangout where the youths gather to interact (LINK UP), there is LCCI monitor programme in promotion of business and Youth Clinic being consultants where youths ask questions and preferred solutions. 

LIC and the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development have been working together such as GIC (on enterprise with Vocational training).
