PDP Primaries: Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency Wants It's Mandate In "Chima" As House Of Representatives

The PDP for Ajeromi-Ifelodun constituency wants it's mandate in Mr Francis Chima as House of Representatives who won the last primaries in May 22 before the elections were generally cancelled across the state.

The party representatives said this at the rerun election which was cancelled again on Monday at Ajegunle Apapa LGA.

The primaries for the local government's House of Representatives had been cancelled twice failing to produce a representative for it's constituency in the 2023 elections.

The aspirants contesting the House of Representatives for the LGA are Mr Francis Chima (Omo Barca) Mr Wilson Deriwari, Mrs Emilia Ezude and former House of Representatives member, Mrs Rita Orji.

A member of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the PDP primaries,  Mallam Kasimu Ebozogie said that the election was cancelled because people protested against the delegates list which he alleged was altered.

"The names of the delegates on the list are not the delegates we democratically elected because there are unfamiliar names on the list.

"We had wanted to peacefully follow the directives of the national working committe to rerun the primary for House of Representatives," the Mallam said.
Ebozogie also noted that the paper from where the list was read was not that of PDP document because the logo on the document was different from the new logo of the party.

"So, we protested and this led to the cancellation of the electoral process.

"However, we appreciate the timely intervention of the police and other security agencies on ground that prevented the situation from degenerating," he said.

Ebozogie urged the party leaders to present to the public, the name of the candidate that emerged from the last primaries which he said was Mr Francis Chima popularly known as 'Omo Barca'.
He noted that that election was free, fair and credible.

"I will not advise the party to go into the next election without a candidate for Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal House of Representatives," he said.

In thesame vein, The party's LGA  Secretary, Olatunji Ajiwe, said that Chima won the primary election conducted in May and appealed that he should be made the candidate for the constituency.

Ajiwe said that the elections were generally cancelled so the result was not used indicating that it would not be fair if the constituency does not have a candidate for the next election.

"We only want them to use the list that the national chairman and the executive committee gave us against working with another list.

"We urge the leadership of the party to come to our aid by giving the people their mandate of Chima representing us at Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA at the House of Representatives," Ajiwe said.

Mrs Falilat Okesola, who introduced herself as a woman leader for the party said that the people no longer needed the service of the former House of Representatives member and wanted a change.

Okesola said that they were tired of past leadership therefore, Omo Barca became the people's choice and from the large crowd of people that came out en mass to support him, "he is the one we want."
