Council Boss Distributes Free 100 GCE Forms To Indigent Students In Ikorodu

 

Mr Wasiu Adesina,Chairman, Ikorodu local Government, on Monday distributed free General Certificate of Examination(GCE) forms to 100 indigent students in Ikorodu division, with a promise to continue to assist the poor.

Presenting the forms to beneficiaries at the council secretariat in Ikorodu,Adesina said the forms were a way of promoting education and empowering the youths of the area.

He said the beneficiaries were selected from across all the wards in Ikorodu ,and that they emerged through a transparent process.

“In addition to the free forms, the local government will also organise free coaching classes and will give cash awards to

best three students in the exam that will be written after the programme

“I am always happy supporting education because it provides an opportunity for one to contribute towards actualising the dreams and aspirations of many progressive youths.

“As it is said, education is the only way to fight ignorance, backwardness, poverty, disease and stagnancy.

“Education promotes socio-economic progress, technological advancement, among other things, he said.

According to him, any effort towards acquisition of education, knowledge and betterment of human mind, can never be a waste in time.


He said that the programme was to assist poor students of the local government to pursue their dreams and give a little relief to their parents.

The council advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the support by taking their studies seriously.

He called on parents to always monitor their children and always encourage them to do the right things.

Adesina used the opportunity to reel out his achievement since re-elected for second term and promised to do more to impact lives in the area.

The Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Shotobi, represented by Chief Kayode Olomo, Baale Ojogbe, commended the chairman for the gesture,urging him to do more to lift the people of the area.

Master Alliu Hassan, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries,commended the council boss for the forms and urged beneficiaries to study hard to reciprocate the council’s gesture.
