Yuletide : VGN Commander Urges Ikorodu Résidents To Be Security Conscious

The District Commander, Vigilante Group of Nigeria(VGN), Mr Olatokunbo Folayan, has urged the residents of Ikorodu and other part of Lagos to be security conscious during and after yuletide holidays.

Folayan disclosed this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday during the burial ceremony of his late mother, Madam Victoria Onime, at Ikorodu West Local Council Developmental Area(LCDA) secreteriat.

He said that VGN under his watch will collaborate with other security agencies and the police to weed out bad boys and make Ikorodu community peaceful so that people would sleep with their two eyes closed.


"We know our people and our people also know us, we don't go on transfer like police officers who hardly have an idea of a community when newly posted.

"All VGN officers are recruited from the same community where a criminal will want to make use of as his abode so it will be easy to fish him out incase he involves in any criminal activities," Folayan said.

The VGN Commander appealed to the National Assembly to pass the VGN bills brought to them for an improve and effective service to reduce criminality in Lagos State and the the country at large.

He urged the leadership of the five Local Government and the LCDA's to support the organisation by providing gadgets for effective operation and service to Ikorodu communities.

"We are already member of the security Joint Task Force (JTF) but if we are giving the necessary support we will be more effective.


"Sometimes people use to call us when they are in distress but without the having enough gadgets to combat the situation our effort will be fruitless.

"Our officers and members are in every local government of Lagos State, therefore, local government should support us so that insecurity in Ikorodu and Lagos State will be a thing of the past," he said.

Folayan advised residents on providing useful information on anybody suspected of causing unrest or being a member of bad gang adding that their profile would be protected.

He warned Ikorodu bad boys who has an intention of perpetrating any evil act to desist from it as well as to relocate to another area promising that VGN will make the community unlivable for them

 Nigerian Navy trains 29 NIMASA personnel on the use of Maritime Awareness Capability system Lagos, March 9, 2024  The Nigerian Navy on Friday graduated 29 personnel of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) on the use of Regional Maritime Awareness Capability (RMAC) system. ASUU-LASUED Awards Scholarships To 6 Indigent Dtudents

  The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Lagos State University of Education (ASUU-LASUED) Chapter, has awarded scholarships to six indigent students of the institution. The national union awarded N200,000, each, to two students – Oluwakemisola Ajetunmobi from  Physics Department and Iseoluwa Amusan from Primary Education Department. While, ASUU-LASUED branch gave the remaining four students N100,000 each. The beneficiaries are Opeyemi Oyetakin from  Mathematics Department, Abidemi Samuel, Physics Department; Ayishat Gbolahan, Entrepreneurship Department; and Olamide Abiola, Mathematics Department.
