NPC Bill Goes For Conference Committe, Awaits Presidential Assent

The House of Representatives at it's first plenary seating for the year 2023 has named a six-member Committee to work with her Senate counterparts for the purposes of harmonizing the Nigerian Peace Corps Establishment Bill NPC, passed by both chambers of the National Assembly in 2022.

A statement made available by the Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) read that the Conference Committee became necessary in order to resolve discrepancies in the bill passed by both Senate and House of Representatives.

"Conferees are expected to work assiduously to come out with a harmonized clean copy of the bill shortly before transmission to Mr. president for his long expected presidential assent.

"We are to be abreast with the fact that Nigeria currently operates a two Chambers Bicameral legislature, which means that for any bill to be accepted as an Acts of Parliament it must be passed by the Senate and House of Representatives.

"What this means is that, the Conference Committee harmonized clean copy of the NPC bill will give a technical knockout to all the impostors organization (NUPEC & the so called Nigeran Peace Corps)."the statement read.

The House of Representatives Conference Committee members according to the statement, includes the following.

1. Hon. Babangida Ibrahim:  Chairman

2. Hon. Tijani Kayode Ismail: Member

3. Hon. Chinedu Ogah:l

4. Hon. Ibrahim Umar Potiskun

5. Hon. Abdulmumini Ari
