Association urges new members to instill positive values to children

 


The Early Childhood Association of Nigeria (ECAN) has urged their new members to instill values,positive values and be a role models to every children they teach in schools.

The National President of the Association, Prof. Babajide Abidogun said this at the induction ceremony of the new set of graduates into the association on Thursday in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that 27 graduates of Lagos State University(LASU), Ojo were inducted into early childhood association of Nigeria(ECAN).

Abidogun said that as an early childhood educators,you have the unique opportunity to instill values such as empathy,compassion and respect in the young hearts you touch.

“Your roles extends beyond academic instruction; you are the role models and the first teachers that children encounter on their educational journey after their parents.

“Your influence will shape their attitudes ,values and perception of the world around them.

“The work you do is not without challenges,it requires patience,adaptability and a genuine love for children,” he said.

Abidogun added that as a graduate member of the association,they were joining a community of dedicated professionals who were committed to the highest standards of excellence in early childhood education.

“This association will provide you with ongoing support,professional development opportunities,collaboration,mentoring,capacity building ,conferences and retreats.

“I want you to embrace this community because it will be a source of inspiration and growth throughout your career,”he said.

Prof Ajike Osanyin, founder of the association has called for the reviewed of the curriculum in order to ensure that Nigeria and Africa values were improved.

Osanyin retired professor from University of Lagos said that most of today’s children do not have good morals and disrespect even their parents not to talk of outsiders.

“The reviewing of curriculum will help to train the children on honesty,hardwork and good morals because early years of each child is the foundation.

“I implore the new members of the association to be a great ambassadors because this is a great opportunity to learn and meet professionals,” she said.
