CSACEFA Trains Members On Capacity Building On Budget Implementation

  

The Civil Society Action Coalition on Education For All (CSACEFA) ,Lagos State Chapter has trained its members on capacity building  to further engage the duty bearers especially the state government and the various MDAs on budgets implementation,tracking and analysis tools training.

The training was held with funding support from the Education Out Loud (EOL) ,Project of the Global Partnership on Education (GPE)

The training had members of the Coalition undergoing an intensive training on Budget Tracking, Public Expenditure Tracking Surveys and Community Score Card. 

Speaking at the training, the State Coordinator of CSACEFA Lagos, Mrs Olubunmi Francis, stated that this training became very necessary to enhance the capacity of coalition with the basic rudiments of Budget formation, approval, implementation and oversight. 

Francis said that civil societies play a very significant role in oversight function. 

“It is therefore important that members of the coalition have the requisite knowledge and information on how to go about this all important function of being a watch dog. 

“The objective of this training is not to witch-hunt the government but to be a partner in progress with them.

“To also ensure good governance impact, especially in the education sector and  provisions made in the budget leaves the state treasury and translate to service delivery at the community level.

Also speaking ,Mr Jeph Ighodaro , Deputy State Coordinator, said that recommended that similar capacity-building initiatives for stakeholders involved in the education sector should be continued. 

Ighodaro said that based on the feedbacks from the budget tracking and analysis tools training with a social focus on education sector budgeting continuation was recommended.

“Such trainings can significantly enhance budget accountability and transparency, empowering stakeholders to advocate for increased funding and improved resource allocation. 

“Ultimately, these efforts will contribute to creating a more equitable and effective educational system for the benefit of the entire community,”he said.

Mrs Aderonke kimemenihia-Eseka,immediate past Coordinator of Csacefa Lagos, also opined that the training  was an eye opener for participants to take action on monitoring education budget.

“As well as sensitising community members to actively participate in education budget, monitoring and analysis  using community score card approach.

One of the Participants, Temitope Oshidele, representing the Women Protection Organization said that the training turned out well and she learnt a lot on budget tracking. 

Oshidele commended the facilitators for the great job they did in impacting so much knowledge.
