Transportation Expert Calls For Solutions To Logistics Problems


Mr Stephen Akut, Country Co-ordinator,Nigeria,Kuehne Foundation ,NGO in logistics based in Switzerland has called on governments,transportation and logistics stakeholders to rethink on how they could solve logistics problems in Nigeria.

Akut made the assertion at an interactive programme tagged ‘Industry Day 2023’ organised by School of Transportation and Logistics,Lagos State University(LASU) and partnered with Kuehne Foundation on Thursday,Lagos.

He said that for every society to develop or advance they would need a competent logistics because it was very important to the life of every human being.

“We need people to know that logistics capabilities will lift them towards developments.

“Nigeria governments and stakeholders needs to build competent logistics in order to compete among other countries.

“In order to solve the logistics problem will develop a foundation all over the developing world for free to build a competency of people to understand the civilisation of logistics being critical to our existence,”Akut said.

He also noted that LASU school of transportation and logistic was one of our first university partners in Nigeria.

Prof. Charles Asenime,Dean ,School of Transportation and Logistics,LASU said that the interactive programme was designed for students in this school to meet with firms in charged of transportation and logistics.

Asenime said that they were passionate about their students getting engaged when they graduate and able to solve problem relating to the sector.

“We do not want situation when people come from outside to take the jobs of what our students can do.

“The students will also learn from this industries during their internship and be solution provider after school.

“This is the first time ,we are doing this programme but it will be done quarterly or yearly,”he said.

Dr kayode Opeifa,Executive Director,Center for Sustainable Mobility and Access Development said that their center ensures that mobility related issues take center stage in growth in Nigeria.

Opeifa also,former,Commissioner of Transportation,Lagos State said that every movement from one place to another was mobility.

“We accommodate those that want to do their youth services because the center is a research based center for mobility and young graduates with a sound technology.

“We are looking for researchers among the graduates ,the center is not a profit making organisation but a connection and networking Centre which will really their careers,”he said.

Mr Abiodun Dosu, LASU,Co-ordinator, Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme(SIWES) has appealed to the transportation and logistics industries and firms to accept their students for their six months internship programme.

Dosu added that the best performed students during the internship could be employed after their graduation.
