Trade Minister Vows To Expunge Bottlenecks Hindering Ease Of Doing Business in Nigeria

Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, has vowed to expunge bottlenecks hindering ease of doing business in Nigeria to drive commercial activities, create wealth and economic prosperity. 

Uzoka-Anite, via a statement on Thursday, stated that the country was on the path of greatness and economic boom with her emergence as minister under the President Bola Tinubu led administration.

The statement was signed by Mr Oladapo Sofowora, Adviser to the Minister on Media.

The Minister said she would employ measures to strengthen bilateral trade relationship with other countries and attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to drive economy growth and development.

Noting the urgency of Nigeria's industrialisation agenda, Uzoka-Anite stated that she was committed to ensuring the ministry achieve it objectives of making sure trade and investment boomed massively in the country.

"We are familiar with the problems ahead but what we are here to do is to bring pragmatic solutions to our issues as a country. 

"One of our key goals is to come up with policies from the public sector, that will relieve people's pain in accessing government services and also make doing business in the country so easy.

"We need to make sure all hands are on deck to bring more investment to Nigeria. 

"We need to rebrand the country for a positive outlook to make sure it can attract investors," she said.

The Minister also pledged to come up with policies and regulations that could protect Nigeria's bilateral trade agreement and also transform industrial formulations. 

Uzoka-Anite added that the ministry would promote homegrown products to meet world standards and negotiate the best for the country.

She said she was ready to build on the gains recorded so far in the ministry through effective collaboration with key stakeholders in trade, investment and industry sectors.

"Nigeria needs to be at par with other countries in terms of trade relations and also attract investment and project more industry.

"We are focused on making small business owners thrive and making Nigeria a trade and investment hub breaking all bottlenecks and barriers. 

"We will protect our traders, investors, and investments and also make more businesses thrive excellently well regardless of the dwindling economy; we will make Nigeria soar again," she said.
