Sony Pictures Entertainment Unveils A Family Game Show

A Nigerian entertainment company, Mekdoss International, in association with Sony Pictures Entertainment, has unveiled a  game show expected to promote family  bonding  and reward contestants.

The game tagged “Pyramid Game Show Nigeria“ would be aired on more than  five television stations from October, according to Mr Martin Gbados, Chief Executive Officer of Mekdoss.

Gbados unveiled the game show in Lagos on Friday.

Other partners in the show include Airtel Nigeria, Vento, Polystar, Seinde Signature, Ritefoods (Sosa), Golden Penny and Hotspot Studios.

Gbados said that the game show would be fun and make  families to come together and learn new words or phrases in form of entertainment.

“It is a game show that would give back to the people. It has  been in existence in the United States of America for 40 years, and won many awards.

“It is a franchised game show owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment.

“Now, we are bringing it to Nigeria. Every contest will be assisted by a celebrity.

“The  format is a word game in which two teams composed of a celebrity and non-celebrity  compete for a cash prize.

“People are going to be winning between N10 million and N15 million every week with the help of their celebrity partners,” Gbados said.

He said that bringing the Nigerian version of the game show was informed by a gap in family-oriented games in the country.

“This show will make parents and children to have entertainment together every Sunday evening as a family.

“Anybody can comfortably participate in this game show (from ages 10 to 70) because it will be educative for both the young and old.

“Viewers  from home can also win money and other prizes through VAS SMS trivia on their phonesΦ,” Gbados said.

Mr Femi Adeniran, Director of Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility of Airtel Nigeria, expressed the hope that the programme would enhance family bonding.

Adeniran also said the initiative would allow contestants to get rewarded for their imaginations.

Mr Enyinna Nwigwe,  the celebrity host of the show, said he was delighted to play the role.
