 Navy Town, NNS KADA celebrate end of the year party in appreciation of officers and soldiers


Lagos, Dec.12, 2023 (NAN) Navy Town, Ojo, Lagos, celebrated it's Ratings end of the year party to appreciate soldiers for their dedication and commitment to duty as 2023 gradually comes to an end. 

The party was celebrated on Friday at the Nigerian Navy Sports Complex, Ojo, Lagos State.

The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Navy Training Command (NAVTRAC), Rear Adm. Patrick Nwatu said that the event aimed at creating a relaxing atmosphere for soldiers and their families.

Nwatu was represented by the Chief Staff Officer, NAVTRAC, Rear Adm. Dan Atakpa.

The FOC appreciated the Chief Of the Naval Staff (CNS) Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla for considering it necessary to have a family merry December occasion for the  ratings and their family.

"As the saying goes, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy so, it is with great pleasure that I am happy to witness the end of 2023 Ratings party in Lagos.

"This event is aimed at taking the ratings away from their regimented routine life to an atmosphere where they can unwind and relax freely with colleagues, family and friends," he said.

Nwatu said that the 2023 Nigerian Navy Operation Cycle, was gradually coming to an end with appreciable successes in the area of curbing criminal activities especially within the maritime domain.

He said that this had provided a more secure environment for the peace loving people of Lagos State in particular and Nigeria in general.

"This achievement will not have been possible without each and everyone of you who have shown dedication to duty.

"I therefore thank you for all your dedication and unwavering commitment to duty and also charge you not to relent as the Nigerian Navy will continue to demand more from you.

"I also appreciate the family members of our dear ratings in Lagos area for their patience in keeping the home front while their spouses are away on military duties," the FOC said.



Also, Navy Warrant Officer, Baba Ismaila, Chief Boatsmate, Western Naval Command thanked the FOC, Western Naval Command, Rear Adm. Mustapha Hassan and the FOC, NAVTRAC and other commanders of autonomous unit in Lagos area for facilitating the conduct of the party for the ratings.

"By so doing, they have organised a feast to show them that they are appreciated for their committed efforts to their duties," Ismaila said.

In thesame vein, the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) KADA conducted WAZOBIA Party as it end of the year appreciation party for it's staff.

During the party, NNS KADA Unveiled the second edition of her Magazine, named, Transporter.

The magazine provided a glimpse into the Naval operations, achievement and the remarkable stories that define the spirit of the ship, as well as Awards for best deserving officer, senior rate and junior rate of the year.



The event also took place on Friday onboard NNS KADA Helicopter deck.

The celebration marked a remarkable timeline under the astute leadership of Capt. Tony Achibong Bassey, who took over command of the prestigious ship in August.



The Special Guest of honour was the Chief of Training and Operations Naval Headquarters, Rear Adm. Zakariyyah Muhammad.

Other distinguished guests were  Rear Adm. M Eno (Rtd),  Fleet Commander Western Fleet Cdre VD Choji among other principal staff officers of the Western Naval Command.
