NGO Donates Learning Materials, Pays Pupils' Tuition Fees

A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), First British Charity Home Foundation, has extended its charity work to 21 pupils by paying their school fees and distributing learning materials including books to them.

The lucky children are pupils  of the Police Children School, Lagos.

At the occasion, the founder of the NGO, Mr Evans Uchendu,

Uchendu said the aim of the gesture was to support the less privileged , stressing that every child deserved the best in life.

“It is a passion that we got to assist the less privileged. I have been in this country for some time and I have come to realise the challenges in the country.

“Some people feel they have been neglected which have resulted to some security challenges.

“I also look at the security challenges the country is facing that have led to the death of some policemen and soldiers which leaves their wives and children helpless.

“This is why we decided to pay their school fees and parent teachers association levies to ease the stress of the widows,” he said.

Mr. Evans Uchendu promised  that the gesture would be replicated in some other army, navy and private schools in Lagos.

“The truth is that we are looking at special situation that needs urgent attention.

“The beginning of the year is always a difficult time for everybody, so we will be visiting the Nigerian army and navy primary school with some private primary school because we are not focusing on military schools alone,” he said.

The Assistant Director of Education and head teacher, Police Children School, Mrs Ngozi Nwachukwu, appreciated the NGO for the kind gesture while receiving the items and the fees.

Nwachukwu assured the NGO that the learning materials would be judiciously put into use while the fees of the listed pupils would be paid accordingly.

“I want to appreciate you on behalf of the parents and the learners, they will never forget today even though they become ministers or president, the memory of today will not be forgotten.

“For you to have done this today, it showed that someone somewhere is thinking about the welfare of the children,” she said.
