  The Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has projected that the 11th All-Africa University Games (FASU) the institution would co-host with the University of Lagos (UNILAG) would be the best ever. Olatunji-Bello spoke at the Pre-FASU Games seminar held in LASU on Tuesday, preparatory to the event scheduled for Sept. 20 to Sept. 29. Take Responsibility, ECAN Charges Early Childhood Educators

  The Early Childhood Association of Nigeria (ECAN) has charged its new members to take responsibility for nurturing and supporting early childhood growth by ensuring access to quality early childhood education. The National President of ECAN, Prof. Babajide Abidogun, gave the charge on Wednesday during the induction of graduating students  of the Department of Educational Foundations and Guidance Counselling, Early Childhood Education Unit, Lagos State University (LASU). The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that more than 100 graduating students were inducted into the association at the event during which ECAN Founder, Prof. Ajike Osanyin, gave N500,000 to the best graduating student. Abidogun said that nurturing and supporting  early childhood education  would set children on the path of success. “The importance of early childhood education cannot be overstated. “It lays the foundation for lifelong learning and development, shaping the minds and future of our youngest learners. “

NAF turns 60, CAS celebrates achievement

  Lagos, March 26, 2024 (NAN) As the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) prepares for its 60th Anniversary in April, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar has celebrated the achievements so far with 30 aircrafts in its fleet. Abubakar made this assertion on Tuesday during a two-day working visit to Sam Ethnan Airforce Base Ikeja and other NAF formations in Lagos to inspect some ongoing projects. The CAS said that the NAF had come a long way from its establishment in 1964 where it started without any platform or training facility and depended mostly on foreign assistance. "However, when we look back now, we have 30 different aircraft types from the fighters, to the transport, to the rotary wing. "We also have a holding of over 35,000 officers and men with bases in all the geopolitical zones of the country and I think we have done wonderfully well over time.  Nigerian Navy hands over 193 bags of cannabis sativa to NDLEA Lagos, March 27, 2024 The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT on Tuesday handed over 193 bags of substance suspected to be cannabis sativa to the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT, Commodore Rafiu Oladejo while to speaking to newsmen at NNS BEECROFT base said that each bag weighed 38 kg. Oladejo added that the items were arrested alongside one suspect, Mr Emmanuel Asamani, a 24 year old Ghanaian on March 16 off the Badagry coast by naval ships on patrol. LASEPA Partners NPA To Fight Pollution, Cleaner Lagos

  The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) in collaboration with the Nigerian Ports Authority(NPA), on Thursday said it was ready to rid off pollution in the state.   A Professor of Biochemistry, Babajide Elemo, has urged the Lagos State Government to increase the funding of the Lagos State University (LASU) substantially. Elemo said this in his valedictory lecture, with the theme: “From Foundation To Future: An Odyssey of a Biochemist’s Four Decades at the LASU”,  on Thursday, in Lagos. The professor said that there should be an increase in funds for biochemical reagents, laboratory chemicals and consumables in order to empower research management in the institution. He said such step was also needed nationally. Mustapha Hassan, on Saturday arrested 13 suspected crude oil thieves on board Motor Tanker (MT) Sweet Miri off the coast of Nigerian waters.  Nigerian Legion: Chairman debunks alleged fraud allegations against him Lagos, March 2, 2024  The Chairman, Nigerian Legion (Lagos Chapter) Deputy Commander General (DCG) Akeem Wolimoh on Friday debunked fraudulent allegations alleged against him by some disgruntled members of the legion.
