 Navy organises paint training for personnel

In a groundbreaking achievement, aligning with the Chief of Naval Staff's Strategic Directive 2023-6,  

The Nigerian Naval Engineering Services Limited, under the leadership of Rear Adm. Baratuaipri Iyalla, successfully executed a comprehensive painting training program for Nigerian Navy personnel on Thursday, June 27, 2024.

The training held at the  Admiralty Conference Hall, Naval Dockyard Limited, Victoria Island, Lagos.



The four-session training featured expert resource persons from Regency Overseas Limited, Company , Jotun Paints, and Infinity Paints International Limited.

The sessions covered marine basics, corrosion protection, anti-fouling, onboard maintenance and paint estimation.

The training also intimated participants with highlights of new innovations in the paint industry.

Naval Engineering Services Limited also used the opportunity to highlight the ongoing efforts to solidify and formalise a partnership with Messrs Jotun Paints.



Distinguished guests present at the training include the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Naval Doctrine Command Rear Adm. Habila Zakaria who also stood in for the GMD Navy Holdings Limited.

Other special guests were the FOC, Western Naval Command, Rear Adm. Mustapha Hassan who was represented by Rear Adm. A Baba-Inna.

The Commander Fleet Support Group Western Naval Command , Commodore IG Ikonne, the Admiral Superintendent Naval Ordinance Depot , represented by Commodore SM Ahmed.



Others are the MD/CEO Infinity Paints International Limited,  Mr. Sehinde Johnson, and the MD Regency Overseas Company Limited Mr. Jagdish Jerhvani.

The event witnessed an impressive turnout of participants from various ships, culminating in engaging discussions, interactions, and memorable group photographs. I

It is envisaged that the training would contribute immensely to improving hull and building maintenance in the Nigerian Navy while bringing down costs through the use of innovative products some of which were show cased by Messrs Jotun Paints Limited.

ASUU-LASUED Awards Scholarships To 6 Indigent Dtudents

  The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Lagos State University of Education (ASUU-LASUED) Chapter, has awarded scholarships to six indigent students of the institution. The national union awarded N200,000, each, to two students – Oluwakemisola Ajetunmobi from  Physics Department and Iseoluwa Amusan from Primary Education Department. While, ASUU-LASUED branch gave the remaining four students N100,000 each. The beneficiaries are Opeyemi Oyetakin from  Mathematics Department, Abidemi Samuel, Physics Department; Ayishat Gbolahan, Entrepreneurship Department; and Olamide Abiola, Mathematics Department.
