FOC says Nigeria, Indian bilateral relationship important as regards trade, industry, others

The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, Rear Adm. Micheal Oamen has emphasised the importance of the Nigeria, India relationship which span over decades and cut across various sectors ranging from trade, industry education and military cooperation.

Oamen said this in a statement signed by the Western Naval Commands spokesperson, Cdr. Abdulrasheed Ahmed on Wednesday.

In the statement, the FOC said that the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla heartily welcomed the Commanding Officer of Indian Navy Ship (INS) Tushil, Capt. Peter Varghese and his ship's company.



The statement also said that the FOC and other dignitaries were hosted to a Cocktail reception onboard INS Tushil on Monday.

"The missile frigate ship was here in Lagos, Nigeria on a port call on its maiden voyage to India, after it was launched in Russia," it said.

Highlight of the event were entertainment of songs and dance by Indian cultural troupe.

Dignitaries present on the occasion include: Ms Vartika Rawat and Col. Rowi Singh, Ag High Commissioner and Defense Attache of India in Nigeria respectively.



Others were Cdr. AO Ojebode (COO WEST), senior officers and officers from Western Fleet and members of the Indian community in Lagos.
