 Solarisation project will promote eco-friendly practices in NNS BEECROFT – FOC     Solar power project inaugurated at the base. Lagos, May 30, 2025 The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Adm. Micheal Oamen, says the solarisation project inaugurated at the Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT will help to promote eco-friendly practices in the base. Oamen said this during the inauguration of some infrastructural¢ projects at the base on Thursday. The projects include a newly constructed 36-lavatory facility, the solarisation of the base, and the groundbreaking for a 50-man ratings’ transit accommodation. According to him, this will enhance the welfare and well-being of personnel. The FOC added that the solar project would help to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and ensure reliable and renewable energy supply.   Nigerian Navy refurbishes, delivers Benin ship for relaunch Lagos, May 28, 2025 The Naval Dockyard Limited on Tuesday handed over Benin Navy Ship (BNS) COUFFO to the Beninoise Navy for relaunch, after extensive docking and repairs of the ship. The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla, said that the event was a celebration of cooperation between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin in the area of maritime security and collaboration. Ogalla said this at the Re-launch of Benin Navy Ship COUFFO which held at the Naval Dockyard Limited, Victoria Island, Lagos State. He was represented by the Chief of Naval Engineering, Rear Adm. Christopher Musa has called for Africa’s unity and collective voice towards ensuring continental security and development. Musa stated this on Monday at the Induction of the Military Staff Committee (MSC) of the African Union Commission (AUC) Retreat for member states held at the Naval Dockyard, Victoria Island, Lagos State. The CDS was represented by the Commander, Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Oshodi, AVM Bashiru Mamman. The Admiral Superintendent of the dockyard, Rear Adm. Ibrahim Shehu, said that the medical outreach was in line with the mission of the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla.
