The Naval Officer’s Wives Association (NOWA) on Monday distributed medicines and palliatives to the people of Ajangbadi community in Okokomaiko, Lagos State.
The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, Rear Adm. Micheal Oamen, said that the Medical Rhapsody was organised as part of the Navy Week celebrations to commemorate the 69th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy.
Oamen was represented by the Commander Medical Officer, Western Naval Command, Surgeon Capt. Victor Ikpeazu.
The FOC added that the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla, had graciously approved the conduct of the medical rhapsody in Ajangbadi community.
“The Nigerian Navy is steadfastly committed to service, not just in protecting our territorial waters, but also in preserving the health and wellbeing of our fellow citizens, especially in communities.
“Over the years, the Nigerian Navy has conducted medical rhapsodies in several places under the Western Naval Command.
“The choice of conducting the free medical programme in this community is purely humanitarian and not influenced by any other consideration,” he said.

“It brings quality healthcare services closer to the people, offering free medical consultations, treatments, minor procedures, health education, and the distribution of essential medications all at no cost.
“This year, the event is being conducted in conjunction with the NOWA,” he said.
The Baale of Ajangbadi Community, Wahab Agbera expressed his appreciation on behalf of the people of the community to the Nigerian Navy for their kind gesture toward them.
