Make giving way of life – Cleric tells Christians

The General Overseer of the Caring Saints Ministry, Lagos, Pastor Olusegun Tinka, has called on Christians to embrace caring for and giving to the less privileged and humanity in general.

Tinka told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the body of Christ should portray giving and caring for the needy as a way of life.

According to him, church administrators and others should do more to serve humanity and consequently give to charity instead of amassing  wealth.

“You cannot be in Christ and not care for people around you.

“I see Christianity as a call to serve rather than being served. Caring for the needy and less privileged should come first in the church.

“When I say caring for the needy, I do not mean caring for only Christians but caring for all, irrespective of their religions, tribes or political affiliations,” he said.

According to him, caring does not necessarily mean giving of alms but empowerment of people.

“It is not everybody that will graduate and immediately get a job. As a religious leader, empowering such a person with a skill so that he can fend for himself is important.

“There is need to encourage members of the community to practise giving so that they will receive, in return, from God Almighty,” he said.

Tinka called on Nigerians to prioritise their relationship with God,  live in harmony and vote wisely in the forthcoming general elections.
