 Ohanaeze Ndigbo youths urges FG to adopt technology for speedy dispensation of justice

The Youth Wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has urged the Federal Government to adopt technology and non-kinetic approach to ensure speedy dispensation of justice and address judicial challenges. 




Mr Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, the Acting National Youth Leader of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, made the call during their 53rd National Executive Committee meeting on Monday in Awka.




Okpalaezeukwu said: "We advise that technology and more of non-kinetic approach be applied as it concerns the speedy dispensation of justice in Nigeria to decongest our correctional facilities. 




"Many of our youths who are being held in various detention centres across the country without trial, can be expeditiously tried, and those who are innocent, be released to make something good out of their lives.




"In the interest of national security, we urge the office of the National Security Adviser, the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Chief Judge of Nigeria and other appropriate quarters to expeditiously consider and address these judicial challenges, " he said. 




Okpalaezeukwu said the group embarked on a five-day project inspection tour in Anambra as part of strategies towards holding political office holders in all Igbo speaking states accountable. 




"We are impressed with the administration's passion for youth empowerment, free education programme, introduction of STEM education programme, free antenatal and delivery policy. 




"We support the clampdown on quack or substandard health facilities in the state, because our people deserve the best.




"We commend the governor for his fiscal prudence, as our investigations show that the Governor has not borrowed a dime since the inception of his administration, yet, he continues to embark on many audacious projects. 


"We however, urge residents to continue to support Gov. Soludo as he strives to build the Anambra of our dream, " he said.


On security, Okpalaezeukwu urged the state government to involve youths in the local security operations in the state.




He also appealed to Gov. Soludo adopt the new Minimum Wage Act by the federal government to ameliorate the harsh economic realities experienced by civil servants. 


Okpalaezeukwu congratulated all newly elected chairmen and councillors in Imo and Enugu states, urging them to deploy the huge resources available to them, to bring development to the grassroots.


He urge Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi and Rivers states to ensure peaceful and successful LG elections to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots.

ASUU-LASUED Awards Scholarships To 6 Indigent Dtudents

  The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Lagos State University of Education (ASUU-LASUED) Chapter, has awarded scholarships to six indigent students of the institution. The national union awarded N200,000, each, to two students – Oluwakemisola Ajetunmobi from  Physics Department and Iseoluwa Amusan from Primary Education Department. While, ASUU-LASUED branch gave the remaining four students N100,000 each. The beneficiaries are Opeyemi Oyetakin from  Mathematics Department, Abidemi Samuel, Physics Department; Ayishat Gbolahan, Entrepreneurship Department; and Olamide Abiola, Mathematics Department.
