The Chairman, House Committee on the Nigerian Navy in the House of Representative, Mr Yusuf Gadgi has commended the leadership of the Naval Dockyard Limited for developmental changes over the years.
Gadgi, representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency, Plateau State recently said this in Lagos State during a visit of the committee to the Western Naval Command and Naval Dockyard Limited on Friday.
The chairman said that he was in a better position to make such commendation having superintended over the affairs of the Dockyard for the past five years as a member of the House.
"When I came here in 2019/2020, the things they have in the Dockyard now did not exist then, so I can tell you the status of the Dockyard ranging from what they produce to what they do.
"I can even tell you the abandoned department within the Dockyard within the last three years that I was here.
"However, having gone round the Dockyard today, I can tell you that there is no single unit that is not functional.
"Both their chemical laboratory, electrical lab, mechanical lab among others are functional and impressive," he said.
According to Gadgi, this simply means that the leadership is very responsible and once you have such responsible leadership in an institution, you can't but make commendations about them.
He added that ninety percent of units and departments in the Dockyard were functional and gave God the glory for the leadership of the Admiral Superintendent Naval Dockyard Limited, Rear Adm. Abolaji Orederu.
"I have known him for the past six years when I became chairman, Nigerian Navy, and he has been doing wonderfully well.
"We have been working together and I have no doubt in his capacity to continue to transform Naval Dockyard.
"We will continue to extend support to the Nigerian Navy so that they can continue with the good works they are doing,' in the budget for him to function," the chairman said.
