The Commandant, Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), AVM Bashir Mamman has appreciated the sacrifices of veterans to our fatherland and their contributions to the sustenance of peace in the country.

Mamman, during the Logistics Command Base Socio-Cultural Day (BASA) on Saturday also appreciated the efforts of soldiers and officers involved in several military operations in and outside the country.

Mamman was the Special Guest of Honour (SGH) at the Logistics Command Base Socio-Cultural Day held in Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja, Lagos State.

He called on Nigerians to not forget the inestimable contribution of combatant veterans whose sacrifices in upholding the national integrity of this great nation to not be in vain.

"Their gallantry and acts of bravery will continue to be our source of inspiration, as they strive daily, even amidst discomfort, to ensure the security of Nigeria and Nigerians.

"We pray for the repose of the souls of our fallen heroes who have paid the supreme price by sacrificing their today to guarantee our tomorrow.

"We all owe them a debt that can never be repaid. It therefore behooves us to keep them alive in our memories," the commandant said.

He also appreciated the families of serving personnel for being supportive and caring for the home-front.

"I salute your resilience and pray that your efforts shall never be in vain," the commandant said.

Mamman thanked the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Logistics Command for moving the Command forward to realise the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Command Philosophy of transforming the Nigerian Air Force into an agile and resilient force that effectively meets the airpower demands of national security in all operational environments.

In the same vein, the AOC, Logistics Command, AVM Kolade Ademuwagun said that BASA was an event hosted annually to signify the end of the year bringing the men together to merry with eachother and civilians alike.

Ademuwagun said that the event was an age long military tradition which dates back to colonial era aimed at promoting rich cultural heritage and fostering unity amongst personnel and families.

"This year's event was unique because it had a parley with the retirees.

"The retirees are our encyclopedia of knowledge because they hold the history of the Nigerian Air Force while we, the currently serving personnel hold the present.

"These cultural activities we have witnessed today, showcases the beauty of traditions that define us as a people and the strength in diversity bounded by shared values and aspirations," the AOC said.

Ademuwagun thanked President Bola Tinubu for his committed support towards improving the welfare of both serving and retired personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
