Yuletide: NGO Distributes Gift Items, Cash In Lagos

A Non-Government Organisation(NGO), BeBe Foundation, on Thursday distributed gift items and cash to vulnerable persons in Lagos in the spirit of the Yuletide. The News reports that beneficiaries were mostly people living with disabilities, widows, and those just released from prison. Items shared include shoes, clothes, cream and seasonal packs with wheat and rice, while  N5000 cash was also given to each beneficiary. Rev. Dr Stephen Oyinlola, Chairman of the group, said that the idea was to put smiles on some faces, especially those who could not afford three meals in a day, promising to be consistent with it. “The issue here is that whereever you are, try to make people happy, let somebody be happy through you, that is the message we are passing out today. “Most of the beneficiaries are visually impaired, they can not work and can not even afford meal three times in a day,” he said. Planned Violent Protest By Emefiele Support Group Uncovered

  Reports had revealed plans by Support Groups sympathetic to the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, to stage massive protests in Abuja and other cities which may turn out to be violent. According to the report, a meeting organised by the duo of Toochukwu Ohazuruike and Godwin Meliga at Rockview Hotel, Abuja late Monday night disclosed that the protests are targeted at the DG of DSS.  Intelligence sources stated that "at the end of the meeting, it was resolved that the next protest starting from Wednesday, December 21 will be massive and mother of all protests".  The sources quoting the conversationofthe groupin the meeting said it was discussed that , "through out this week, we agreed to protest from Wednesday till Friday. We are ready to protest on Friday. We want those going for Jumat to join us. NGO Launches TV Series To Sensitise Children On Financial Literacy

  A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Prudential Zenith, in collaboration with Junior Achievement (JA) Africa, has launched a television series, “Cha-Ching Money Show”, aimed at sensitising school children on financial responsibility. Speaking at the launch of the show in Lagos,  the Chief Executive Officer, Prudential Zenith, Mr Chuks Igumbor, said it would assist the children in making wise financial decisions and instill sound financial habits to millions of them. Ikorodu LG Presents Official Cars To Councillors, Empower Widow, Elderly With Cash Sum Of N2.5m

  Hon Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government on Wednesday presented official cars to councillors representing all the wards in area and some staff members of the council. Our correspondent reports that Adesina also presented cash and food items, worth 2.5million naira to widows and the elderly. The beneficiaries received N10,000 each with food pack,containing rice, beans garri,and groundnut oil. Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Adesina thanked the people of the local government area for their consistent support for his administration. He urged them to continue to support him for more delivery of democratic dividends. NAFRC Impacts Mushin Health Community, Donates Medical Items

  The Nigeria Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) under it's Commander, AVM Idi Lubo recently distributed several medical items and medical consultation at Omodigbo Primary Health Care Centre, Mushin, as part of it's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Lubo said that items such as eye glasses, malaria tablets, toothpastes, toothbrushes, insecticide treated mosquito nets, medical consultation and screenings were carried out for free to the people of the community. "Also, medical exercises such as malaria test, dental check-up, eye examination, sugar test, Hepatitis and HIV screening were carried out." DSS Warns Woman To Desist From Using Fake News To Gain Public Sympathy

  The Department of State Services has warned a woman who identified herself as the wife of one Shafiu Ibrahim to desist from misleading the public with fake news, hate speech, misleading narratives, and other instruments of disinformation against the Service to curry unnecessary public sympathy.  The woman, in a viral video, had claimed that her husband, who was linked to terrorism, was abducted by people who identified themselves as operatives of the DSS, alleging that the Kogi State Government, particularly the Governor of the state and his Chief of Staff, were behind his ordeal.  She had also claimed that despite being pregnant, the DSS personnel that broke into their house assaulted her and others on the said day.  Reacting to the allegations in a statement on Thursday, the Spokesperson for the Service, Peter Afunanya, said Aisha was either deliberately lying or playing to the gallery.  The DSS said, "She is either playing to the gallery or deliberately lying.
