Labour Leaders, Others Declare Support For APC

 

Leaders of the Nigerian Labour Congress in the Southwest on Friday declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos.

The Labour leaders pledged their support for the Tinubu/Shettima - Sanwoolu/Hamzat Independent Campaign Council at APC House, GRA, Ikeja.

Receiving the Labour leaders, Mr Tayo Ayinde, the Director General, Tinubu/Shettima - Sanwoolu/Hamzat Independent Campaign Council said Asiwaju's achievements will continue to speak for him.

"Sentiments apart, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the most qualified candidate of all. He is capable and his achievements will continue to speak for him.

"Talk of welfare, good working condition, retirement package, Asiwaju is the best. We all know he has been performing before he even became the governor," he said.

Ayinde further described Tinubu as a masterplanner who deserves to be given the mantle to lead Nigeria to greater heights. 

Mrs Iyabo Obasa, Director of Labour while addressing the council said the Labour leaders had come to join the winning team and show their support for campaign group.

"Tinubu/Shettima, Sanwo-olu/Hamzat Independent Campaign Council is the winning team worth to be associated with. Our candidates are tested and trusted to make Nigeria great again," she said.

Obasa further urged everyone to put in their maximum effort in ensuring that their chosen candidates emerge winner in the coming elections. 

Also pledging her support was the Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello who affirmed her commitment to good governance. 

"We all have one mission and it is your make sure our mentor gets to Aso Rock. We should do one on one and house to house campaigns to achieve this.

"We should also replicate same in Lagos as we all know that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is a listening governor. He has done excellently well so he deserves another term. 

"I believe Lagos would have been completed turned around by the time he completes his second term, with our support and that of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the presidency," she said. 

Mr Isa Aremu from the Labour Directorate, Abuja, said APC should be commended being the only party that a whole directorate designated for labour.

"You can not judge a book by its cover but by its content. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has always being a frequent visitor of NLC which shows how passionate he is about the welfare of the people. 

"I advise that we reaffirm the candidature of Asiwaju as he is a leader who will be accessible, someone you can dialogue with and engage for the betterment of the masses," he said.

The NLC Lagos Chairman, Comrade Agnes Sessi said the labour leaders would not hesitate to mobilize for the Tinubu-Shettima, Sanwoolu-Hamzat Independent Campaign Council. 

Sessi said the union believes in Governor Sanwo-olu and he is deserving of a second term for the party leaders to nominate him again. 

Sessi added that the union would be organizing free eye test for supporters and members of the Independent Campaign Council to show their alliance with the winning team.

Other dignitaries at event were Cardinal James Odubaku; the Chairman ICC, Mr Kolapo Olatunde; NLC Chairman Ekiti State and Mr Kayode Martins; NLC Chairman Oyo State amongst others.
