Nigerian Navy arrests three stowaways aboard tanker vessel Front Altiers Lagos, Dec.29, 2023 (NAN) The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT's patrol team has apprehended three stowaways attempting illegal migration on the Tanker Vessel FRONT Altiers at Lagos, bound for Europe. The Commander NNS BEECROFT and Maritime Component Commander Operation AWATSE, Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga in a statement signed on Friday said that the incident occured on Wednesday, Dec.27. Oguntuga identified the stowaways as Ebuka Daniel, 29, Enugu State, Samuel Abraham, 32, Edo and Christian Happy 32, Delta State. "They were discovered to have boarded with the assistance of fishermen for a fee of twenty thousand naira and five thousand naira respectively. "Acting on reliable intelligence, the patrol team meticulously extracted the stowaways concealed in the rudder compartment of the vessel, preventing them from exposure to life-threatening situations during the long voyage.  ECOWAS maritime domain celebrates 10 years impact of Yaondé Code of Conduct Cotonou, Dec.15, 2023  The Multinational Maritime Coordination Centre (MMCC) Zone E, comprising of Nigeria, Republic of Benin, Togo and Niger have celebrated 10 years impact of the Yaondé Code of Conduct to West African region. The Director, MMCC Zone E, Commodore Aniedi Ibok said that the centre provided a platform for increased presence at sea and enhanced response time that served as deterrence to maritime criminals.  Naval Dockyard organises free medical outreach to improve healthcare practices in Lagos Lagos, Dec.8, 2023  The Naval Dockyard Limited, Victoria Island on Thursday organised a free medical outreach to raise awareness about preventive healthcare practices to the people of Iru-Victoria Island Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State. NERC commissioner wants regulatory economics introduced in university  Lagos, Dec.1, 2023  Mr Dafe Akpeneye, Commissioner, Legal Licensing and Compliance at the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission(NERC),  on Thursday wants regulatory economics introduced as a course into Nigerian universities. Akpeneye said that this would help to build local capacity in the power sector. He made this call during the 14th PwC Annual Power and Utilities Roundtable Conference with the theme: The Electricity Act 2023, Powering Nigeria in Lagos.  The commissioner said that the laws in Nigeria today that could handle a power sector transaction, end to end, with skill and capacity building were very few. "So, we need to build local capacity along the lines of everything we do in the sector. "No university in Nigeria teaches regulatory economics and what we do in the sector is regulatory economics so we need to start building our local capacity towards doing these things locally," he sai
